Isole Eolie - Alicudi and Filicudi

The island of Alicudi is the most western of the Aeolian archipelago, and has an area of ​​about 5 square kilometers. It’s dominated by Mount Wire Harp, an extinct volcano, surrounded by ferns, chestnut and lime trees. Alicudi is inhabited only on the eastern side, which is also called Alicudi. The tow is divided into small fractions: Alicudi port, where ferries and hydrofoils dock; Contrada Tonna, in the western part of the island; San Bartolo, characterized by the presence of the church dedicated to San Bartolo, the saint patron of the Aeolian Islands; Pianicello district, inhabited by a population of German-speaking native of Switzerland; Sgurbio district; on the East side of the island.

The Filicudi Island, is the second island of the archipelago after Alicudi, and has an area of ​​9.7 square kilometers. The population of about 200 inhabitants is distributed between the centers of Filicudi Porto, Valdichiesa, Pecorino, Pecorino at sea, Channel and Rock of Ciavoli. The main points of interest on the island are: the seat of the Aeolian Museum in the port town; Neolithic village on the promontory of Capo Graziano; the grinders, which are accessible from the trail that leads to the Neolithic village; Giafante of the Rock, which has a shape that vaguely resembles an elephant, hence the name Sicilian "Giafante"; the Grotta del Bue Marino; Septic Ferns; the sacrificial altar on the promontory of Capo Graziano; to admire the beautiful sunset from Stimpagnato, overlooking the Rock Cane.
